Drake Family Letters

Hello! and Welcome

A brief explanation on my transcription is appropriate here. Many of the letters
are so faded as to be illegible in part. In cases where there was a single letter missing
I put the letter I believed it to be in brackets. If it was an entire word,
I used brackets. In cases where there was no possible way to even guess at the content,
I used dashes to indicate that problem. If I could determine how many letters and words,
I did so by using the same number of dashes as letters and words. Any parenthesis in the text are the writer's
own. I realize that there are spelling errors, those belong to the writer as well. (You'll just have to trust
me on that one!) Capitalization and other forms of punctuation, seem to be used at the whim
of the writer and I have transcribed their text verbatim. The text is currently being proofed two other
readers, as I will be the first to admit that I am far less than perfect. If any of this is
unclear, feel free to contact me. I should also tell you that in places where I had further information about
a subject in the letter, I marked it with an asterisk. The links below will take you to the letters.
